Professor Nikolay Nikolov is from Exeter University in Britain. He and an international team of researchers, including Professor Jonathan J. Fortney from California University and Ernst de Moojis from Dublin University, has discovered cloudless atmosphere on exoplanet WASP-96b.
Exoplanet WASP-96b is a gaseous giant with a temperature of one thousand degrees Celsius, similar to Saturn in mass, 20% larger than Jupiter and which transits a star similar to the Sun at 980 light years.
This planet outside of our solar system is called WASP-96b, but scientists also call it ‘hot Saturn’. Space researchers discovered a giant exoplanet that emits a thin trail of gas covering up to five times its surface and in whose huge tail identified signs of helium. The news was published in the journal Nature.
This exoplanet is also called as hot Saturn. And it does not have clouds in its atmosphere. Doctor Nikolay Nikolov and his team from Exeter University claim that they make an outstanding discovery, as it is the first exoplanet without clouds.
