Skin cancer less dangerous to married people

According to the new study, married people are more secured from skin cancer or melanoma than their single friends.

The new study was published in JAMA Dermatology this Wednesday. It is similar to the previous study of melanoma spread and married people.

This study says that apparently marriage matters for your health. Married people who have melanoma usually are diagnosed earlier, on still treatable stages, than their unmarried friends. Besides that, married people with heart problems have lower risks of dying than unmarried.

Usually, melanoma can be mistaken for mole, bruise, small pigment, and so on. It can appear after too much sun baths. People with lots of moles on their bodies or fair skin suffer more often from melanoma.

A new study made by researchers Doctor Giorgos Karakousis and Cimarron Sharon from Pennsylvania University says that spouses are usually more caring. They can detect suspicious mole and bring partners to the hospital. They are supportive and help each other with medical procedures.

Unmarried people still can ask relatives or friends to check suspicious spots before going to dermatologists.

Research does not explain why spouses are more attentive to each other, while friends and family can also pay attention to each other.

Scientists have checked data of 52 000 patients with melanoma in the USA, diagnosed from 2010 to 2014 years. Statistics were made from the government database of cancer.

Melanoma is a dangerous type of cancer as it can easily spread to other organs.

According to research, almost 50 percent of married patients were on the early stage of tumor spreading comparing to 43 percent of never been married patients, 32 percent widowed, and 39 percent divorced. Only 3 percent of married patients had ominous melanoma tumors, comparing to 10 percent of widows and widowers.
