Do we really need vaccination?

Do we really need vaccination?

Vaccination was an unknown luxury for many centuries when mortality was on the rise. And now, in the modern world, when people can get vaccines almost for free, they prefer to avoid it.

While medical journals and magazines suggest that vaccination is necessary for your health, numerous self-proclaimed doctors, healers, and so on, advise you to be more natural and let’s say “medieval”.

What is a vaccine and why do we need it? In an idyllic fantasy world, we are safely protected by the immune system, which can destroy any germ of the upcoming disease. Meanwhile, the truth is… it is enough for our immune system to be under some stress, not so strong or not so quick, and pathogens (germs) will break through.

So, doctors have created vaccines that can help the immune system by training it with a small number of the pathogen. Our immune system is getting stronger, learning how to fight with the pathogen.

Vaccine imitates infection that will not be able to destroy our immune system in the future, as it already knows ways to react to it.

Why are they so important?

–              The vaccine can protect us from disease, like cholera, hepatitis B or polio. In some regions, these dangerous diseases still present in big amounts.

–              The vaccine can protect elder people and children. These two age categories usually have a weaker immune system and can’t fight the disease on their own.

–              The vaccine protects a vulnerable part of the population. If population will be vaccinated disease will not be able to spread. People without immunity can feel safer in such area.

–              The vaccine helps to control epidemics which usually happens several times in the year.
