Japan faces outbreak of measles

And it breaks down all plans of tourists from Hong Kong to see Japan.  For now, many travel agents across the world are hurrying to cancel possible or already planned trips to Japan due to the infectious disease spreading.

For other travel companies, it is just a small obstacle, and no trips are canceled and plans changed.

At least one travel agent in Hong Kong followed instructions and canceled trips to Japan. Local officials in Okinawa confirmed that 70 people or so have called for medical helped because of measles.

Measles are very infectious. Usually, government try to do everything and warn everyone who had contacts with an infected person during several days.

A few months ago passengers of the plane with one man infected with measles received notifications with a proposition to visit a doctor.

The head doctor in Okinawa says that there is nothing to worry about and there is a low chance of outbreak. There are 270 tourists from Hong Kong who still will travel to Okinawa at the end of April.

Hong Kong Council of travel industry confirmed that there are 13 groups of tourists that plan to visit Japan, despite measles infection.

Today the executive director of council, Alice Chan Cheung Lok-yee has confirmed that 9 tourist groups are in Okinawa already.

Before Saturday groups of 180 people in total will return to Hong Kong. She says it is a decision that should be taken by tourists after discussion with their travel agents.

Meanwhile, WWPKG travel agent has decided to cancel trips of 8 groups, instead of having discussions with them. They had to travel to Japan on 26 of April.
